The ability to pay directly within a WhatsApp conversation is becoming a reality in certain international markets. In 2025, WhatsApp offers native payment features in a few pilot countries, with the goal of expanding these capabilities progressively.

Where are WhatsApp payments already available?

As of today, integrated payments within WhatsApp are live in three key markets:

  • India: integration with UPI for instant peer-to-peer or business payments.
  • Brazil: send and receive money via credit/debit card directly from the app.
  • Singapore: peer-to-peer and business payments with authorized partners.

🔒These features are not yet available in Europe, including Switzerland, where financial regulations and banking models differ.

In Switzerland: TWINT + WhatsApp = a fully operational alternative

Even though native WhatsApp payments are not yet available in Switzerland, it’s already possible to accept payments via WhatsApp thanks to TWINT and its Paylink solution.

What Paylink enables:

  • Create a payment link in seconds (with amount, description, etc.)
  • Send this link directly in a WhatsApp conversation (or any other channel)
  • Receive real-time payment confirmation
  • No technical development or complex integration required

💬 Typical use case:
A customer asks you for a product or service on WhatsApp? You send them a TWINT link directly in the conversation. They click, pay, done. You just need to update your order and inventory flows.

Why this matters
  • You stay within a seamless conversational channel
  • You avoid redirecting to emails or external checkouts
  • You maintain a direct, human connection with your customers
While we wait for native WhatsApp payments to arrive in Switzerland, this hybrid approach already allows businesses to offer a smooth, fast, and secure shopping experience – all within WhatsApp.

At Sandra, we integrate TWINT and Paylink features directly into your WhatsApp API environment, enabling a fully conversational customer journey — from acquisition to payment, without friction.
